Who is Sealline?
Sealline is an American company that has developed and designed equipment for the maritime world for many years. They produce some of the world’s best and most durable products in waterproof storage, such as drybags, bags, and dufflebags. Therefore, their equipment is highly valued by surfers, paddlers, sailors, and outdoor enthusiasts who love the water!
Sealline’s motto is equipment that lasts and equipment you can rely on – and in fact, they have such a high quality reputation in the outdoor industry that even elite soldiers from the frogman corps use their gear.
Who is behind the brand?
The creators behind Sealline products are a team of innovative paddlers and adventurers, engineers, surfers, industry veterans, talented technicians, and skilled designers. In other words, it is a company made up of people who know what they are doing and understand how essential good equipment is for any adventure.
The values
Sealline creates equipment that lasts and equipment you can count on. Their key words are durability, weight, and packing capacity, which clearly shine through in their products.
According to Sealline, you should be able to travel without worrying about your gear, and everything you bring – clothes, food, sleeping bag, etc. – must be protected, kept dry, and easily accessible. Therefore, materials, design, and construction are carefully selected when Sealline’s experts collaborate to develop a product.
The requirements for equipment vary from adventure to adventure, and Sealline has created a diverse range of waterproof storage so you can be sure to find exactly the gear that fits your trip.
Sealline’s products
At Sealline, you will find a wide selection of waterproof drybags, bags, and dufflebags adapted for everything from day trips in sea kayaks to longer expedition trips in canoes.
The waterproof bags consist of a thin layer of fabric and have an incredibly low weight. These bags come in many different sizes and are ideal for packing inside a larger bag or backpack on a longer hike, where clothes and sleeping bags need to stay dry but weight is crucial.
Sealline’s drybags are more durable and weigh a little more than the waterproof bags. They are perfect for kayaking trips as they can withstand being pulled in and out of a kayak hatch countless times. Some types of drybags also come with shoulder straps and hip belts, so they can quickly and easily be slung on your back. This can be a great advantage if you need your arms free to climb slopes or hills to set up camp after hauling your sea kayak ashore.
A dufflebag is in a way a substitute for a hiking backpack on the water, and it is very suitable for longer trips in a canoe or boat.
Sealline’s dufflebags are the most durable and long-lasting products in the waterproof storage category, and they come in different sizes and with various carrying systems.
For example, if you are going on a multi-day canoe trip where the gear must be carried over land in some stages of the trip, Sealline has designed dufflebags with the same fantastic carrying system as a backpack. The carrying system consists of soft and padded shoulder straps, lumbar support, and a chest and hip belt that ensure the weight of the load rests on the hips instead of pulling on the shoulders. This provides maximum comfort and support for the carrier.
The roll closure
A hallmark of many Sealline products is the double-striped roll closure at the top of their drybags, which they introduced in 1986. The roll closure is the most waterproof closure available on the market, so you can always count on Sealline’s products to keep your gear dry.
What makes Sealline’s drybags waterproof?
Sealline uses two types of treatments to make their drybags waterproof: polyurethane and vinyl treatments.
The polyurethane treatment (also called PUR) is Sealline’s premium treatment. Compared to vinyl-treated products, PUR-treated drybags better withstand impacts and pressure, are often a bit lighter, and are more environmentally friendly.
On the other hand, Sealline’s vinyl-treated products are more economical and remain soft in lower temperatures, preventing cracking.
Vinyl-treated products are also durable but slightly less so than PUR-treated ones.
Size guide
Sizes in Sealline products are indicated in liters. The liter measurement tells you the volume and capacity of the drybag. To help you understand the liter sizes, here is a list of what you can fit in different sizes of drybags:
- 5L = a few meals/snacks for two, base layers, or other small essentials for the trip.
- 10L = a down jacket, food for the weekend, or a small sleeping bag
- 20L (most versatile size) = a sleeping bag, some change of clothes, or larger gear like a tent or cooking equipment.
- 30L+ = from 30L and up, most things you need for a night outdoors can fit.
Lifetime warranty and repairs at Sealline
When you buy a product from Sealline, it comes with a limited warranty. The warranty covers defects in materials or workmanship for the entire product lifetime, as long as the product has been used correctly for its intended purpose and has been maintained.
For example, the warranty does not cover if you have used a drybag as a seat pad in a blackberry bush, on sharp rocks, or similar, resulting in scratches or holes.
If the warranty covers your product, Sealline will repair the product at no cost to you – or offer you a new product.
The product’s lifetime varies depending on how often it is used, how well it is maintained, and so on.
Usage and wear on all products will be visible over time, and the more the product is used, the more it will wear out, and the sooner it will reach the end of its lifetime when the warranty no longer applies.
