Paracord – Versatile and strong cord for outdoor life, survival, and bushcraft
Paracord, also known as parachute cord or parachute rope, is a lightweight, flexible, and extremely strong cord originally developed for use in the U.S. military. Today, it is a staple in everything from survival gear, outdoor equipment, and prepper kits to hobby projects.
At Survivalstore.dk you will find a wide range of paracord cords in different colors and lengths – as well as accessories for paracord, so you can use it exactly the way that suits your needs.
It has countless uses and strengths. Survivalstore.dk stocks at least Type III 550 Paracord, as it is suitable for most tasks.
Whatever you need parachute cord for, you will always find a large selection of both US MADE 550 parachute cord and 550 paracord in stock - We always have cheap paracord available.
What is paracord – and how is it constructed?
Paracord (short for parachute cord) is constructed of an outer sheath braided from nylon threads, which surrounds a number of inner strands (often 7 or more), which also consist of twisted nylon threads. This makes the cord both strong and flexible, and you can even use the individual inner threads separately – for example as fishing line, sewing thread, or for improvised first aid.
The most commonly used type is 550 paracord, which has a breaking strength of about 250 kg (550 lbs). This makes the cord perfect for situations where low weight and high strength are crucial – both in everyday life and in survival situations.
What are the type designations for Paracord, and what does LBS mean?
There are different type designations for Paracord. Since it is American, these are given in lbs. Below you will find a table for tensile strength.
| Type I | Type II | Type III | Type IV |

What quality of Paracord is sold in the shop?
Some people are very concerned about whether paracord is produced according to Mil-Spec, whether it is "Real" or "Fake." There is a lot of confusion about this, mainly due to various online forums. Here at survivalstore.dk, we sell "Real" paracord, produced by an official and certified supplier to the U.S. Army.
Paracord – more than just a strong cord
Many associate paracord with survival gear and bracelets, but it holds much more potential than that. The flexibility of parachute cord makes it ideal for everything from DIY projects and emergency solutions to detailed craft products, such as rifle slings, shoelaces, dog collars, and leashes. - Think of all the things that have straps and bands – that's quite a lot!
A often overlooked advantage of paracord is that the inner nylon strands can be removed and used separately. This allows you to sew, tie, or fish if the situation requires it. This functionality is hard to find in other cordage of the same price range and weight. Some versions of paracord are even equipped with reflective threads, fire starters, or snare wire – elements that are indispensable in bushcraft and wilderness life.

Use paracord for toggles and smart solutions in the field
One of the more practical uses of paracord is for so-called toggles – a technique where you can quickly and securely attach cords and gear without tying knots. It’s ideal for tarp setups, gear hanging, and temporary assemblies when you’re out in the field.
With some paracord and a few small sticks, you can make effective toggles yourself that make your setup faster and more flexible. This is especially popular among bushcrafters and scouts.
