What is paracord?
Paracord, also called parachute cord, is a lightweight and strong nylon cord originally developed for use in parachutes during World War II. Soldiers cut the cord after landing and used it for countless tasks due to its strength and versatility.
How is paracord constructed?
Paracord consists of a core with 7 separate nylon strands, surrounded by a durable outer sheath. This construction provides high strength and flexibility. The inner strands can be used separately for things like fishing line or sewing thread – perfect for survival and repairs.
Uses
Paracord is often used to set up and secure tents and tarps, make bracelets, camp repairs, grip enhancement, and much more. It is popular among outdoor enthusiasts, scouts, and DIY hobbyists.
