A fire pit is used when you don’t want to make a fire directly on the ground. There can be several reasons for this. First and foremost, a fire pit is safe to use if the ground and grass are very dry, or if there is a risk of a root fire.
Use a fire pit for coziness
There is nothing cozier than a fire. However, you don’t always have a fire site or want to create a permanent one. In those cases, a fire pit is perfect, as you can have an open flame to roast sausages or bake twisted bread on.
When you’re done "playing with fire," you can simply pack it away.
It is especially practical in the following situations
- When you need to mow the lawn – it’s easy to move around, so you can easily get to where it’s placed and around it.
- Place it wherever you want – its mobility makes it more attractive than a permanent fire site.
Who says the spot where you’re relaxing today will be the same tomorrow? - Large fires aren’t necessarily cozier – the magic happens when you sit and watch the flames and relax. Due to its size, a fire pit naturally limits how big a fire you can have. Large fires use a lot of wood, so keep it going longer by letting yourself be limited.
Cook food directly on it and use your fire pit as a pan
Who says you need a frying pan or a large pot to cook over a fire? No one... depending on the design, you can use it as a pan and thus save some gear. If you buy one of our Petromax models, you can build the fire directly underneath and use it as a pan for your delicious campfire food. The advantage is that you can cook and fry very large amounts of meat.
