Since this water bottle is made of stainless steel, you can actually use it to heat water, either for tea, coffee, or your hiking meals, but also to disinfect water or as a hot water bottle.

Disinfecting fresh water in your water bottle.
If you find yourself needing (reasonably) clean water but have no more, help is at hand.
You should start by making a simple water filtration system, where you briefly filter dirty fresh water through as fine a physical filter as possible (a cloth works best), then boil it in the water bottle to kill bacteria and microbes.
It’s important to use fresh water; this does not work with salt water, and it’s crucial to bring it to a rolling boil for about 5 minutes to ensure bacteria and microbes are killed.
To use your water bottle for heating water, remove the plastic cap.
Place the water bottle with water next to the fire where there are good embers, preferably on a grill if you have one.
If you boil water in it during snowfall, never place it directly in the snow afterward, as the sudden temperature change can cause it to warp or deform.

If you choose to boil water in the water bottle, you do so at your own risk. The product is not originally designed for this by the manufacturer. So please consider this only as an emergency tip from us; if something goes wrong, unfortunately, we cannot replace the water bottle.

Use your water bottle as a hot water bottle

Getting into a cold sleeping bag at night or having cold feet is just no fun. But your water bottle can help here too.
Fill the water bottle with nicely warm water, make sure it’s tightly closed (you can put it in a bag to avoid a wet sleeping bag). Place it in the foot box of your sleeping bag, and you’ll have warm feet for a long time.

The last tip here is a bit different... But since it can hold water inside, it can of course also keep water out. So if you’re worried about your fire-starting materials getting wet (and you have water stored elsewhere), you can also use it as a waterproof container.
