The carpenter’s axe is unlike other hand axes. It is different in many ways and is a truly excellent hand-forged axe for carving work. When the edge is straight (it is straight and without bend) as it is on the Hultafors classic carpenter’s axe, it doesn’t cut deeply into the wood. This is an advantage for precision work and for rough shaping of various carving projects.

The Hultafors Stålberg is straighter than other hand axes, which in itself offers a different experience. The head is hand-forged, resulting in a unique and beautiful appearance. The scent of the leather sheath and the oiled hickory wood can make your knees go weak – that alone can almost convince you that the hand axe is a “must-have.” Another feature of the carpenter’s axe is the cutout near the head. For cutting work, it is designed so that with a firm grip on the handle, right up by the head, you have optimal control over it. This enhances precision in cutting work... and again here it outperforms other hand axes.
