Everyday Adventures - Outdoor Life and Adventure All Year Round
Everyday Adventures is the book for all of us who love spending time in nature.
Many of us may find it difficult to carve out several days from the calendar to go on a trip, and that it requires quite a bit of planning.
It doesn’t have to be that way at all.
In the book Everyday Adventures, you’ll find inspiration to go on 'everyday adventures'.
So it’s not too time-consuming or complicated to get out and have exactly the experiences you want for yourself and your family, the little adventures.
A great book that we can all enjoy, as it makes it simple, easy, and adventurous, just as it should be.
The publisher writes:
This book is about going on adventures. Not the kind of adventures where you sell your house, risk your retirement, and set off into the big world hoping to come home with all your fingers and toes intact. These are adventures we can all take part in, and they can be found right outside our front door.
The starting point is outdoor life, but with a twist. Outdoor life is always wonderful, but if you do it a little differently than usual, it can also become adventurous. If you are new to outdoor life, it will feel adventurous to light your own fire and cook on it. If you are experienced, that kind of activity will almost be routine, but even for the experienced, a new angle on outdoor life can give the feeling of adventure.
The message is to seek out the unknown and do things you don’t usually do. And maybe dare to try something new, or something you’re not quite sure can be done. That can give the kind of butterflies in your stomach that tell you you’re on an adventure. The book’s purpose is to inspire the reader to go on adventures, and it is structured to make it clear that adventure is close by and accessible all year round.
The book introduces the concept of everyday adventures – how, within the framework of an ordinary day, you can find adventure right outside your door. The time from finishing work until the next morning can be used for an adventure and an overnight stay outdoors. In this way, most people can find time for an adventurous experience, even with a very busy schedule where there’s never a free weekend. At the same time, using this time frame itself gives a strong feeling that you have broken out of the normal routine, and thus the adventure has begun.
The author has, over 6 years, completed monthly everyday adventures with overnight stays outdoors, and it is based on experiences and insights from these many trips that the book is written. To start, the idea of micro-adventures is framed, and an adventure indicator is introduced, highlighting several essential elements of an outdoor adventure. Then a series of themes for everyday adventures are presented, including overnight stays outdoors, hiking, cycling, canoeing, cooking on a fire, treasure hunts, foraging for food in nature, and much more.
Additionally, there are chapters about the opportunities of the seasons, equipment and skills, laws and regulations in nature, and also how to handle anxiety and insecurity at the thought of a night outdoors. Finally, there are packing lists, plenty of tips, and references to further inspiration.
