The Molle system can, as always, handle adding pockets and gear, but this US assault backpack also comes with its own useful features. 

The back is padded for good support and comfort, and held close to your back with ergonomically shaped, padded shoulder straps that can be length-adjusted. 

To ensure the best fit, the US assault backpack also has an adjustable hip belt with a buckle, plus a small pocket for the gear you need close at hand. 

At the top of the US assault backpack, you'll find a carrying handle and two large pockets each with a set of zippers.
The two outermost pockets are for your light gear and come with separate walls in the bottom outer pocket for easier gear organization. 

The attached compression straps on each side of the US assault backpack are for adjusting the size/volume of your backpack.
So when you're on a light hike where the gear doesn't fill the US assault backpack, you tighten the straps and end up with a streamlined, compact backpack ready to rock and roll. 

Last but not least, there is a dedicated pocket with mounting for your hydropack.
