Every now and then, we come across a product that not only lives up to its promises but also takes it a step further.
This is exactly such a product, namely the Saros -18 sleeping bag from Therm-a-Rest.

A pleasure to test

I recently tested the Therm-a-Rest Saros -18 when we were expecting a night with temperatures around -12 degrees Celsius. But it turned out to get much colder, down to -17, which is right on the edge of what it can handle on paper.
But honestly; I can’t remember the last time I had such a good night’s sleep in severe frost (Danish conditions).
There was only one awakening when the temperature hit -17, because my nose stuck out a bit too far, but Therm-a-Rest Saros -18 easily delivered on its promise, the comfort is absolutely amazing!

Good space in the Saros -18 sleeping bag from Therm-a-Rest

Although it is a "mummy" sleeping bag, there is plenty of shoulder room and a large foot box, so you can easily pull your legs up without creating cold spots in the "empty pockets".
You simply sleep much better when you can move naturally.
To be completely honest, I am looking forward to taking it on my next winter trip; it was truly a great experience.
Even though Therm-a-Rest Saros -18 reached its maximum rating on paper, I was nowhere near freezing, and that was without any special underwear, just ordinary long (worn and old) polyester base layers.

The evening/early night started at -6 degrees, but as mentioned, we ended up at -17 in the early hours. At no point did I notice major temperature fluctuations outside.
Inside the sleeping bag, it was warm and cozy, even at the feet.

Spring hasn’t fully arrived yet, but this is one of the few sleeping bags that is quite good at regulating/retaining temperature, so I’m confident it can easily be used well into spring.

Features

A cool feature of the Saros -18 sleeping bag from Therm-A-Rest is that you can attach your sleeping pad to the bag so you don’t slide off during the night when you turn over.

The Therm-a-Rest Saros -18 sleeping bag comes in a large storage sack so the fibers are not compressed beforehand.
We always recommend letting your sleeping bag hang freely/uncompressed when not in use, as this helps it last longer.

Of course, a compression sack is included for when you need to take it on a trip.

It was an epic night!
In my Saros, together with Therm-a-rest - Mondo King or another good winter pad, you take everything to a whole new level on your winter trips.

Winter trips are always special, and so is the Therm-a-Rest Saros -18.
