The lid is secured by two plastic clips. If you plan to use the pot over a campfire, you MUST remove these two plastic clips. It doesn’t take much imagination to guess what happens to them.
What are the advantages of a Zebra Billy Can in stainless steel?
First and foremost, stainless steel is really durable. You really have to try hard to damage a Zebra Billy pot with normal use. The problem arises if you use aluminum pans and pots over a campfire. If there’s no liquid inside, they tend to melt. You won’t have that problem with campfire gear in stainless steel, which is why a Zebra Billy Can is really good.
Are there any disadvantages to campfire gear in stainless steel?
Yes, if you are a gram hunter and love to go Ultra Light, then you shouldn’t buy this. Stainless steel simply weighs too much unless you save weight elsewhere. It’s up to you to decide, but I haven’t heard of any UL hikers carrying a Zebra Billy Can in their pack.
