This sailor's knife has its place in the backpack. 

A German deck knife, or sailor's knife, is primarily designed for all rope-related tasks on a boat. 

But if you have a paracord knot and have just had your nails done, this deck knife can help you untangle it and many other knots. 

The knife has a large polished spike, also called a marlin spike, which you can use to work your way into the knot and then gently wiggle it free. You can also use it as a regular pocket knife, as it also features a decent blade.
