Description
Green Campfire Food - Book about vegetarian food over a campfire.
Here at Survivalstore, we love campfire food in all its forms.
Everything from twisted bread and sausages with the kids, slow-cooked meals with friends, to simpler hiking food where the goal is to spice up what you can pack in your backpack, with treats from nature’s big kitchen garden.
In this book, you’ll find plenty of inspiration on how to prepare vegetables and fruit over a campfire, either as a main dish or as a delicious side.
You’ll learn new cooking methods and get fresh inspiration on how to use your favorite items from the vegetable drawer.
For example, we ourselves love the salt-baked rutabagas with goat cheese and watercress, the hanging tomatoes, butternut squash with black olives, and so on, and our daughter loves the book’s recipe for hash browns. Overall, we’ve found that vegetables go down a bit easier with her when cooked over a campfire, where the whole experience is different.
The book is definitely not just for vegetarians and vegans, but for all of us who want to learn something new about what campfire cooking can be.
Green Campfire Food begins with a section on equipment, campfire techniques, and cooking methods. At the end of the book, you’ll find plenty of great pickling recipes.
The book is written by chef Nicolai Tram, whom you might also know from the book 'The Book of Campfire Food’. His wife, photographer Eva Tram, took all the photos, which are an inspiration in themselves.
