Description
Food with Fir - a book about foraging fir.
Fir, you think... Foraging fir..?
- Yep, and you will be surprised - pleasantly surprised
In this book, you will find inspiration and delicious recipes on how to use fresh, crispy fir shoots for everything from fir jelly, syrup, schnapps, lemonade, and even fir béarnaise or fir-marinated pork tenderloin.
The book is written by Johanne S. Philipsen and Julie A. Swane.
They are both highly knowledgeable in the plant kingdom and have both taught cooking with wild plants and led foraging tours.
The first time one of our inspiring customers suggested I make fir tea, I thought; you must be joking... But I was proven wrong, it was something completely different than I initially expected, in a good way!
So I had to go book hunting and found this book, and of course, I had to get it right away. Because besides it being an eye-opening experience with fir tea, I am actually in the situation where we are the happy owners of a coniferous forest, but can you eat something like that?
I love gathering supplies from nature, but initially, I didn’t think I could get much from conifers, but you can, and much more than I thought.
We definitely won’t eat our way through the entire forest, but it’s super cool to get so much out of a resource that we all know so well and that many probably have in their garden.
With this book in hand, you are well equipped to get even more delicious items on the shelves from the Nordic nature, in your own pantry.
