Cool mess kit consisting of 3 parts, this is the West German model.

Mess kits have rightly been used in the military worldwide for the past 100 years, with each country having its own style.
We also have the Swedish version of their mess kit, which you can find here.

This German mess kit is newly produced, so you get something that has never been used before, but the model has been used in the German military all the way back to World War I.

All 3 parts of this model can be used over an open fire.
The large bottom part of your mess kit can be used to boil water, heat your food, or make soup. You simply hang it by the handle, or place it in the embers, on your grill, or your burner or hobo stove, and cook yourself a well-deserved meal outdoors.
The included 2 pots can also be used over an open fire but must be placed on something stable.
The lid has a foldable handle attached. It is used both to close your mess kit and as a handle when using it over the fire or when moving your pot or the extra insert inside the container, as the opposite end of the handle fits into the hole on the side of the insert, which is helpful when lifting the pot off the fire.
When you have 'hooked' the two small pots together at each end of the handle, you can also hang them on top of your large pot, making it easy when you sit and eat.

Your German mess kit can easily be fastened to your backpack by the handle.
Back in the day, German soldiers had a leather strap fastened around their mess kit, which unfortunately is no longer included, but you can, for example, use this nylon strap, or make your own leather strap, which takes this cool mess kit to the next level.
