Description

Charcloth - Compact metal box with charcloth (15x15 cm) for lighting your fire.

A charcloth (carbonized cotton fabric) is used as tinder to start a fire in survival and bushcraft situations, or just for regular fire lighting if you enjoy a bit of tinkering.
Charcloth is made by carbonizing a piece of cotton fabric under controlled conditions, making it highly flammable.

How does charcloth work?

Charcloth works as a fire starter because it can catch even the smallest spark from a fire steel or other spark source and begin to glow immediately. Once glowing, you can use it to ignite more traditional tinder materials like dry grass, birch bark, or wood.

In the metal box with 15 x 15 cm charcloth, you have enough for several fire lightings. You can easily separate the carbonized fabric into smaller pieces. Use it together with, for example, a fire steel or flint to start a fire without modern aids like lighters or matches.

You can easily make your own tinder; we have, among other things, created a guide on how to make punk wood, which you can see right HERE, as well as two other types of homemade tinder that you can learn to make HERE.
