Description

Sank with Children - The Children's Wild Pantry.

Book about foraging food in nature and edible plants, for children and their closest ones.

Learning about and foraging edible plants and herbs really makes a lot of sense on many levels, especially for children.
Getting a good and solid knowledge of nature from an early age is a gift to carry through life.
Most children love nature, especially the more they know about it.
Foraging edible plants and herbs in nature has, with good reason, become very popular in recent years. It is also exciting, tasty, healthy, and of course free, which certainly doesn’t hurt.
Children are curious, but as a mother, I also know that you will do everything to take good care of them, and the best way to do that is by equipping them with good knowledge and common sense.

Nature is full of edible plants, herbs, and mushrooms, but honestly, there are also quite a few out there that you definitely should not put in your mouth.
That’s why I was so happy when I saw that Johanne and Julie (the book authors) had created a book about foraging, specifically aimed at children. Because the more they know, the safer both they and I feel.

Sank with Children is a great introductory book to foraging edible wild herbs and plants, whether you are a mother, father, educator, school teacher, or grandparent. Anyone involved with children and nature will benefit from this book.

The book 'Sank with Children' is very concretely structured.
The first part of the book contains descriptions and photos of individual plants, and information about where they grow, when they can be harvested, and how and for what you can use them.
The foraging book includes an overview of 79 Danish plants and herbs that are safe to pick and eat.
There are various suggestions for foraging trips in forests, meadows, streams, and fields, making it easy to get out and try it safely, no matter where you live.

Additionally, there are 50 child-friendly foraging recipes that are easy to follow and also 'simple' in their taste, so foraging edible plants and herbs can be a success with children on many levels.

Sank with Children has been on our own bookshelf for a couple of years, and we love it, so of course it should be in the shop too!

If you yourself are passionate about foraging edible plants and want to get a bit more detailed, I highly recommend Food with Spruce, also by Johanne and Julie, trust me, you will be pleasantly surprised.
