Narex Adze Axe in Two Sizes

When you need to hollow out, shape, or work wood for items like bowls, utensils, and similar projects, an adze axe is indispensable. The adzes from Narex come in two sizes and are suitable for both precision cuts and rougher woodworking.

• 50 x 290 mm: Compact model for hollowing, small bowls, carving work, and precise adjustments. The short handle and light head provide maximum control.
• 70 x 620 mm: Large version designed for heavier tasks such as furniture parts, primitive tools, or larger hollowing jobs. The long handle ensures power and reach.

Regardless of size, you get a versatile and sturdy tool suitable for bushcraft, sculpting, woodworking, and traditional carving.

Both adze axes feature heads made of hardened carbon steel and are sharpened super sharp. The handle, made of oiled beech wood, feels comfortable in the hand—even during extended use.

The adze axe (also known as an “adze”) chops across the wood surface—somewhat like a chisel with a handle.

The curved blade allows you to work at a controlled depth and achieve smooth cuts, even in tough and hard wood.

For example, make a beautiful and simple bench from a tree trunk with your adze.

Of course, you can use it for smaller tasks like bowls, platters, wooden tubs, etc.—it’s great for that!
But it’s also suitable for other types of woodwork.
Here I’ll give you an example of what we’ve also used our adze for (model - 50 x 290 mm).

Here we split a tree trunk in our forest to make a bench for our yurt. We worked the bench surface with an adze to create a beautiful and unique look, instead of planing off the splinters.

The surface becomes really smooth and pleasant to touch, requiring no further finishing.
If your bench will be outside in rain and sleet, you can advantageously treat it afterward with a mixture of linseed oil and beeswax.
Because when you’ve done the work and felled a tree that took many years to grow big, it should also last many years to come.
