Description
Therm-a-Rest - Questar 0C
The Questar 0C is an amazing down sleeping bag, offering plenty of room to turn and twist, just like in your own bed.
It is a mummy sleeping bag, which means you get the best use of your body heat without your body having to waste unnecessary energy warming up the sleeping bag. Therm-a-Rest has taken into account that many of us like to have extra space to move around during the night, and you can do that in the Questar.
The down in the Questar 0C is treated with Nikwax Hydrophobic technology, which means it repels water 90% better than untreated down and dries three times faster.
The filling in the Questar sleeping bag from Therm-a-Rest is divided into zones, so you have the most down in the areas where your body needs it most, giving you the best comfort while keeping weight and packed size to a minimum when you pack your Questar.
On the back of the sleeping bag, there is a system called SynergyLink Connectors by Therm-a-Rest.
In short, these are two straps on the back of the sleeping bag that you can fasten around your sleeping pad to prevent slipping off during the night or having your sleeping bag move around when you turn.
The Questar has a range of features that you only find with Therm-a-Rest, as they really think things through.
One feature I really appreciate is the oversized footbox, where there is actually room for your feet in every direction.
The Questar comes in three different versions, depending on the temperature you need to sleep in.
The lower the temperature it needs to withstand, the heavier and bulkier it is, as it contains more down.
It comes in the following:
0C / 32F - It goes down to around freezing point.
-6C / 20F - It goes down to about -6 degrees Celsius.
-18C / 0F - It can keep you warm down to about -18 degrees Celsius.
All sleeping bags from Therm-a-Rest come with a storage sack and a compression sack.
About comfort temperatures
Comfort temperature is often experienced as relative; women often need a higher comfort temperature than men, and some brands can be quite optimistic about their comfort ratings compared to what our own tests show they can deliver. This is NOT the case with Therm-a-Rest, and it applies to ALL their products—they deliver what they promise.
See, for example, the review I wrote for Saros - 18. The only difference between the series is that one is down and the other is synthetic.
The Questar and Saros series share the same fantastic platform but with different fillings.
