Description
Yurt in Black Cotton Canvas – Large Tent Canopy.
A spacious and flexible yurt made of sturdy black cotton canvas.
Suitable as a fire shelter, classroom, or gathering spot in nature.
We have our own yurt set up here in our own forest. It is used frequently as a natural meeting place for both work and family, giving us many opportunities to spend extra time outdoors, even with several people gathered, as there is plenty of space.
We have designed our yurt with a fixed fire pit in the center, which makes it easy to 'draw' into the yurt, allowing calm to settle and creativity to unfold.
It remains more or less permanently in our forest (except during winter with snowfall or autumn with strong winds – learned from experience). But we have also taken it down and brought it to events.
A yurt of this size and quality offers a flexible space with many possibilities.
What is a yurt?
A yurt – also spelled jurt in Danish – is a traditional tent form originally used by nomadic peoples in Central Asia. It typically consists of a round structure with a central open space and a canopy, providing ample room and the possibility of an open fire in the middle.
Today, yurts are used in many contexts within outdoor life, education, and nature stays, serving as flexible and atmospheric spaces for gathering, teaching, and activities.
The yurt creates a simple and functional space with room for both teaching, staying, and activities for both children and adults.
It is suitable for private use but also for institutions, schools, nature guides, or purposes such as workshops, meditation, and outdoor stays.
Two sizes for different needs
The yurt is available in two sizes, depending on how much space you need:
- 6 meters in diameter – 12 poles
- 8 meters in diameter – 16 poles
Both models provide good standing height and the possibility to gather several people under the same roof.
Flexible solution with optional sides
The yurt is delivered as an open tent canopy (roof/covering), with sides available for separate purchase and can be buttoned on as needed. This allows you to adapt it to both open and more enclosed setups, depending on the season and use.
Sides are not included as standard but can be ordered separately.
Material and construction
The tent is made of black cotton canvas weighing 280 g/m². The material provides a pleasant space, shade from sun, rain, and weather, and is naturally well suited for outdoor use.
A chain for the top is included, but poles must be purchased separately or made yourself. We have had good experiences with locust wood poles. They hold up well.
Suitable for fire and stays
It is possible to light a fire inside the yurt, making it ideal as a fire shelter or gathering point. However, this requires proper setup and is always at your own risk.
Important to be aware of
The yurt is a large tent canopy and can therefore be sensitive to strong winds, heavy snowfall, and other harsh weather conditions. It is important to choose the location carefully and ensure proper setup.
Delivery and ordering
This is a made-to-order item.
Delivery is possible to Jutland, Funen, Zealand, and bridge-connected islands. Other deliveries are arranged individually.
