Description
Gouge for kuksa, spoons, and bowls - Available in 10 mm, 15 mm, and 20 mm.
A gouge is the ideal tool for those who enjoy making their own gear.
Whether you want to dive into making your own kuksa, a small wooden bowl, or, for example, a spoon, a gouge is the right tool.
The gouge makes it easy to hollow out a kuksa or a bowl, where it can be difficult to reach with a carving knife.
Additionally, you can apply a bit more force when working with a gouge due to the working position.
The gouge has an overall length of 24 cm, which provides an optimal balance between control and reach during carving. The handle has a diameter of 2 cm and is made of wood, and the blade is made of steel.
Here you can assemble your own gouge set.
To meet different needs, the gouge is available with three different cutting widths: 15 mm, 20 mm, and 25 mm. This allows you to choose the size that best fits your specific project, whether you are working on a detailed wooden spoon or a larger kuksa or a smaller wooden bowl.
What wood is good for carving?
In short: Fresh wood is definitely the easiest to work with, but you need to be gentle when it dries so it doesn’t crack.
Stick to deciduous trees like birch, linden, fruit trees, etc., and avoid pine as it imparts flavor to, for example, your kuksa (resin, etc.).

Carving Techniques: An introduction to various good techniques for carving wood
The blade itself (the part you carve wood with) on the gouge is handmade and of good quality, but it should be noted that the finish on the handle of this gouge is nothing to cheer about (hence the low price). It works as it should, and we use them ourselves, but the handle is not a sight for sore eyes, that’s said. But if you’re a bit handy, you can rehandle your gouge and then you have your very own perfect piece of bushcraft gear.
Remember to sharpen your gouge regularly; dull tools are rarely a pleasure, and keep it dry and clean when not in use.
Enjoy your carving :)
